2002-Present: Founded CG and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors
Tom Carlisle brings nearly 40 years of information technology consulting leadership in the financial services sector to CG. He is a respected business leader, philanthropist, and chairman of the Board of Directors at Carlisle & Gallagher Consulting Group, the management and technology consulting company he founded in 2002 with three other partners.
As Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tom works closely with the leadership team to guide the firm’s business strategy. He is also the acting CFO, responsible for the firm’s financials, banking and accounting relationships, and legal matters.
Throughout his career, Tom has built well-respected and profitable IT consulting businesses — nurturing them from startups and growing them into national corporations. These firms include Systems and Programming Consultants (SPC), Data Processing Resource Corporation (DPRC), and CG. While building these firms, Tom developed strong management teams, led mergers and acquisitions, served on their boards and executive steering committees, and secured Fortune 500 clients including NCNB (now Bank of America) and First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo). He began his technical career at Cutler Williams as a consultant, and at Springs Industries working as a computer programmer, business analyst, and project manager.
Early in his career, Tom assembled the top IT consultants in Charlotte, NC and SPC gained a reputation as the most highly regarded firm in the Charlotte market. In 1998, the merger of SPC and DPRC created a $350 million consulting firm with more than 30 offices nationwide. Tom was appointed to the Board of Directors and to the Executive Steering Committee, and the team he developed rapidly rose through the ranks. The merged company experienced 30% growth over the next year. In 1999, DPRC was acquired by Compuware Corporation, a multibillion dollar company that ranked as one of the top 10 technology companies in the country.
Tom earned an Associate Degree in Information Technology from York Technical College, and as a way to give back to his alma mater he and his wife Elizabeth established a scholarship fund, in the name of CG, for the college’s Computer Department. Tom is also on the board at York Technical College and actively participates in many community service initiatives — including Clover Caring, Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP), River Hills Community Church, Shriners, YMCA, and Urban Ministry Center. Tom is married with three children and four grandchildren.
